Outdoor Home Ed Learning Programme
7 Week programme carefully planned to nurture curiosity and develop life skills in nature.
Service Description
Jess and Claire, both Forest School Level 3 leaders, DBS checked and fully First Aid trained, have thoughtfully designed a 7-week programme especially for home educated children. Each session has been carefully planned to nurture curiosity, develop life skills, and encourage a love of learning through meaningful outdoor experiences, they have used the curriculum as guidance. Jess will be leading the older children whilst Claire the younger ones. Session Times Our day begins at 10:30am and runs through until 2:30pm. 10:30am – 1:00pm: Guided outdoor learning session with Jess and Claire, including hands-on activities, exploration and skill-building. 1:00pm – 1:30pm: Lunch break. Families are welcome to bring their own lunch or lunch boxes can be purchased from The Hub, (but will need to be pre brought) 1:30pm – 2:30pm: Relaxed free time. Children can play, explore and socialise in a more informal setting, while parents can choose to relax, connect with others, or use this time however they wish. Why Outdoor Learning Matters Outdoor learning offers children the freedom to explore, take risks safely, and connect with the natural world. Being outside supports emotional well-being, builds resilience and confidence, and encourages healthy physical development. It invites creativity, problem-solving, and independence in a way that traditional indoor settings often can’t replicate. Learning in nature also gives children the chance to: -Develop independence skills through self-led exploration and hands-on activities. -Engage in meaningful teamwork and discussions, building communication and social confidence. -Strengthen emotional resilience by learning to adapt to changing environments. -Build problem-solving and practical life skills in real-world contexts. -Linked to the Curriculum Although our approach is child-led and playful, each session has been carefully aligned with curriculum links to support key areas of learning such as science, literacy, maths, communication, and personal development. This ensures your child is not only having fun but also building skills and knowledge that can be recognised within their wider educational journey. Parents welcome to stay and join in the experience, or if you prefer, you’re invited to enjoy some peaceful time in The Hub, located beside the fire. Take a moment for yourself with a warm cup of coffee while knowing your child is engaged, supported, and thriving in a safe & nurturing outdoor environment.
